NEW ALBUM 'VANITY PROJECT'
Liesa Norman is an accomplished composer/artist who holds a doctorate in flute performance from the University of British Columbia. She has performed with the Vancouver Symphony and numerous chamber ensembles throughout North America. She has also been featured on CBC radio and television, Vancouver television, City T.V. in Canada and numerous TV and Radio performances in the USA.
Liesa has played shows and events featuring Elton John, James Galway, Chantal Krevaziuk, Feist, Michael Buble, Barney Bental, Colin James, Spirit Of The West, Grammy award winning producer Ben Mink (Feist, Heart, Sarah Mclachlan, KD Lang, Rush), Shaun Verreault (Wide Mouth Mason) Casey Abrams (American Idol) High Holy Days (Roadrunner/Universal). At the same time, Liesa is a model and actress who you may have seen on one of several international runways, or on many movie and television sets.
Liesa started her multi-faceted career in Toronto where she received her bachelors and masters degrees in music and has since performed and recorded in Canada and the United States. She also recorded a solo record of original avant garde pop tunes called “Text Me” and was subsequently signed to Koch/Nevada in the US and Universal Music Canada for the release.
Liesa also works as a composer and arranger; her works are classically inspired yet filled with contemporary overtones. Liesa has scored films and TV for directors Martin Cummins (Poltergeist, Dark Angel), Nick Copus (Arrow, Once Upon A Time, Almost Human, Turn) and composed with Grammy award winning producer Ben Mink (Feist, Sarah Mclachlan, KD Lang, Rush, Fifty Dead Man Walking, Feist, Heart).
Fans who appreciate Tori Amos’ dramatic piano lines, Feist’s offbeat Bohemian frankness, or even Bjork’s sonic quirks, will find a kinship with Liesa Norman, who’s also a bit of the wacky banshee when it comes to lending her vocals to tracks devoted to the adrenaline-fuelled dance floor or dark, jazzy nuances.
